A Cup of Tea :: Moment with Michelle

I've been a bit lax about including a bit about me, past photography and the amazing people I get to work with, here on my blog these days so I thought I would share with you something I enjoy on a daily basis.

With summer starting out so hot and humid it might seem a bit crazy to be drinking hot tea.. but I love it! I do occasionally go the iced route too. I enjoy drinking tea so much I think it transformed from a simple beverage to a hobby a while back. I have tins of various flavors of black, green, white, and herbal lined up in my cabinet and my Christmas gift from Jeff this past year was the beautiful cast iron tea pot you'll see pictured below.

I find the whole process of tea to be calming. It's so simple, scooping in just enough to steep when the water temperature is just right. Then you wait, 2 minutes, 4 minutes, whatever that tea calls for, before removing the leaves. Then you wait some more for the temperature to settle a bit before you have your first sip.

The start of this week has been a little rough and this simple process gives me a sense of routine and allows me to take a few quiet moments out of the day to refocus. An added benefit is that I also associate drinking tea with so many great conversations and laughing fits I've had with friends over cups of tea and coffee over the years.

What is it that you like to do to unwind? Or to steal a few moments out of the day for yourself?
